I think the image turned out pretty well. I wish I had more than just one box left, as I could see doing a lot more with this stuff.
Gorgeous results. And this is from Polaroid Type 55 that expired in 2002? Fantastic! Can you share how the film was stored all that time? Fridge or just room temps? If normal room temps do you keep your thermostat turned down low?
That's what surprised me about the film! It was stored in my camera case at room temps, around 74 degrees. I never thought it would last so long!!! The color Polaroid films were dried up, so I guess the Type 55 uses a different chemical?
Yep, from what I've read the film base in Type 55 is/was Panatomic-X, an old Kodak favorite. The chemistry in the pods must likewise be uniquely different than the color chems, as B&W film and chemistry is usually more stable over the long haul. Curious, did your box of film still have it's outer foil seal intact? If so, I've read that Polaroid filled the empty space with nitrogen, an inert gas. That may have been why the chems didn't dry up. If, on the other hand, the box seal was pierced then it's a miracle that the chems spread so evenly. Really cool either way.
